West Ham United have not made a fresh approach for Cardiff City defender Dylan Lawlor, despite reports claiming the Hammers had stepped up their pursuit.
West Ham retain a genuine interest in the 20-year-old Wales international. However, no formal offer has been submitted and talks have not progressed with Cardiff or Lawlor’s representatives.
WalesOnline reports that senior Cardiff sources have dismissed claims of a recent breakthrough. The Championship club remain determined to keep one of their leading young players.

Lawlor emerged as an important player during Cardiff’s promotion-winning campaign and collected the club’s Young Player of the Season award.
His performances also earned senior international recognition with Wales. Interest has since arrived from Championship, European and MLS clubs, but Cardiff are planning around the centre-back for the new season.

Cardiff hold a strong position because Lawlor’s contract runs until 2028. Head coach Brian Barry-Murphy also views the academy graduate as a central part of his long-term plans.

For now, reports of positive talks or Lawlor becoming the club’s priority centre-back target appear premature. The admiration remains, but West Ham have not advanced their interest.
