West Ham set Championship record after massive 50,000 announcement

West Ham United have sold more than 50,000 season tickets for the 2026/27 campaign in a remarkable response to the club’s relegation.

The Hammers confirmed the landmark figure on Friday, 17 July. Sales have already surpassed the number recorded during their final Premier League season.

The total is understood to represent a Championship record, with several weeks still remaining before West Ham begin their league campaign away at Burnley.

Former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson described the announcement as “massive” and believes it will provide the club with significant revenue.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson acknowledged that some season-ticket holders may not attend every fixture. However, West Ham will still receive the money from those seats.

West Ham support hands Nuno major promotion platform

West Ham reduced their season-ticket prices following relegation, but the volume of sales should help protect their matchday income.

The Championship schedule will also provide 23 home league fixtures, compared with 19 in the Premier League. That creates additional opportunities for hospitality, food, drink and merchandise revenue.

Supporters have committed in huge numbers despite a difficult campaign and an uncertain summer. The backing increases pressure on the board to provide Nuno Espírito Santo with a squad capable of securing immediate promotion.

West Ham have also rewarded season-ticket holders with free access to the Southend United pre-season stream.

Jarrod Bowen’s decision to remain at the London Stadium has provided another lift. The captain confirmed his commitment shortly before the season-ticket milestone was announced.

Empty seats may still appear when fixtures are moved for television or scheduled during difficult midweek periods. The commercial benefit has already been secured through the initial sales.

West Ham’s supporters have provided an extraordinary Championship platform. The club’s recruitment and performances must now match their commitment.
