West Ham United are reportedly unwilling to accept a loan offer for Jean-Clair Todibo as they continue to seek a permanent sale.
The French defender is not part of Nuno Espírito Santo’s plans following a breakdown in their relationship towards the end of last season.
Todibo was absent from West Ham’s 3-2 behind-closed-doors victory over Colchester United at Rush Green. Nuno used two different XIs across the match, but the 26-year-old did not feature.
Claret & Hugh reports that West Ham are not prepared to approve a temporary move at this stage, despite Todibo having no clear route back into the team.
West Ham want a permanent Todibo exit
West Ham’s position is understandable after paying around £35million to sign Todibo permanently from Nice.
The club want to recover a meaningful part of that investment rather than delay the issue through another loan.
A temporary deal without an obligation to buy would leave West Ham exposed. Todibo is under contract until 2029, but another season away could reduce his value further if he does not play regularly.

Marseille and Fenerbahçe have both been linked with the defender, although no permanent agreement has been reached.
West Ham may eventually need to compromise if no suitable buyer emerges. Carrying Todibo’s wages throughout a Championship season would not suit either party.
For now, the club are holding out for a permanent solution.
The next few weeks will decide whether that stance attracts a serious bid or leaves West Ham facing another difficult call before the transfer window closes.
