West Ham United are reportedly considering a move for FC Cincinnati attacking midfielder Evander as Nuno Espírito Santo rebuilds his squad.
Italian outlet Area Napoli, as relayed by Yahoo Sport, reports that West Ham are competing with Napoli for the Brazilian.
The report claims the Hammers could move beyond their initial interest and make a formal approach. Cincinnati reportedly value Evander at around €18m, or £15.4m, plus add-ons.
Evander joined Cincinnati from Portland Timbers in February 2025 and remains under contract until December 2027.
Evander could fill West Ham’s creative gap
The 28-year-old has produced nine goals and six assists across his opening 14 MLS appearances this season. Last year, he recorded 18 goals and 15 assists in 32 regular-season matches.
Those numbers explain West Ham’s interest. Nuno needs more creativity after Mateus Fernandes completed an £85m move to Tottenham.
ReadWestHam recently examined how James McAtee could address the same creative shortage, but Evander would offer a different profile.
The Brazilian is comfortable receiving the ball between midfield and attack. He can also contribute goals, create chances and take responsibility from set pieces.
West Ham must decide whether his MLS output can translate to the Championship. However, his previous experience with FC Midtjylland means he has already played in European competition.
Evander would not arrive cheaply for a second-tier club. The sale of Fernandes has given West Ham room to invest, though, and a productive number 10 could become central to their promotion push.
Interest remains at an early stage, with no agreement reported between West Ham and Cincinnati.
