  • West Ham have to beat Leeds United on Sunday to have any chance of survival
  • The Hammers also need Tottenham Hotspur to lose
  • Spurs play Everton across London at the same time

West Ham United face Leeds United on the final day of the Premier League season knowing they have to win to have any chance of staying in the top flight. The Hammers require three points and Tottenham Hotspur to lose to David Moyes’s Everton to complete the great escape.

Leeds United once looked likely to fall into the relegation scrap but have since pulled themselves to safety. Nuno Espirito Santo will be hoping that the Lilywhites are well into holiday mode when they head to the London Stadium on Sunday.

It’s win or bust for West Ham, but they also require other results to go there way. Either way, the Hammers have to take care of business.

Match Officials

Referee: Anthony Taylor

Assistant Referees: Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn

Fourth Official: Steve Martin

VAR: John Brooks

Assistant VAR: Dan Robathan

Anthony Taylor will take charge of West Ham vs Leeds United on Sunday.

A top-flight official since 2010, Taylor is regarded as on of England’s most decorated referees. He has previously taken charge of two FA Cup finals, one League Cup final and the 2022 FIFA World Club World Cup final.

Manchester born Taylor has worked his way up through the leagues and has now taken charge of 432 Premier League matches to date.

Taylor has overseen over 800 games in total and refereed West Ham on 42 occasions, including 39 in the Premier League.

Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn will assist Taylor in this game. The pair did so in Qatar for the World Cup and in Budapest for the 2023 Europa League final.

Beswick has assisted in 379 Premier League games since 2014 and Nunn has helped oversee 332 top-flight games after joining in the same year as his counterpart.

Steve Martin will serve as the fourth official for this game. Martin has served in the role at eight Premier League games this season, making it 60 top-flight games in total.

VAR

The VAR for this game will be John Brooks. The experienced referee has covered 12 Premier League games this season and covered VAR duties on 37 times. Those times include West Ham’s home games with Tottenham Hotspur and AFC Bournemouth.

Assisting Brooks will Dan Robathan, who has been an assistant referee in nearly 200 Premier League matches.
