  • West Ham beat Everton 2-1 at the London Stadium on Saturday
  • The win keeps the Hammers out of the bottom three
  • Callum Wilson netted the dramatic winner

West Ham United secured a huge win in dramatic fashion on Saturday afternoon as they beat Everton 2-1 at the London Stadium. The Hammers were made to work for it but eventually got the three points that keeps them out of the Premier League’s bottom three.

Tomas Soucek‘s opener was cancelled out by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and just as though it looked like West Ham were heading for a point, Callum Wilson came off the bench to find the winner, just as he did against Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the season.

The winner not only keeps the team’s good form going, but keeps them above Spurs. The Hammers rivals got their first league win of 2026 but the Irons three points means they remain two points from safety.

Nuno Espirito Santo has widely used Wilson as an impact substitute and the 33-year-old has now scored six goals for the team, many of which have been huge, including his winner on Saturday.

Jarrod Bowen heaps praise on Callum Wilson

West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen is no stranger to big goals himself, but says Wilson impact is purely down to just what he is good at. The Hammers winger told the club’s official website that finding late winners is just what Wilson does.

“That’s what he does!” said Bowen, who set up the Wilson’s winner at London Stadium. “He sniffs out a chance from nothing and he’s a credit to himself. He’s proven what he can do in the Premier League.

“Since he’s been here, he’s been amazing for the group. He’s scored some important goals for us and today probably the most important goal, after Tottenham. That’s what he does and we knew we had one more left in us, one more attack left in us.

“We’ve got a kind of never say die attitude. As disappointing as it was to be holding onto a lead, which is normal in a game, and then to be 1-1 and looking like you’re going to drop the points, you just have to keep going.

“You keep going. You never know what’s going to happen. You’ve got to make it happen.

“I’ve always said that we’re the ones that have got to make it happen. We’re the ones that have got to win games and we’ve done that.”
