- Nuno Espirito Santo has revealed the approach to West Ham’s January overhaul
- The Hammers have picked up 13 points since January
- The team take on Crystal Palace tonight
West Ham United have turned things around since the beginning of 2026 and now sit above the relegation zone. The Hammers looked doomed at the end of 2025 but now control their own destiny and future in the Premier League.
Since the end of the January window, West Ham have picked up 13 points, a run that has taken them out of the bottom three. The additions of Axel Disasi, Valentin Castellanos and Pablo Felipe have proved fruitful whilst Konstantinos Mavropanos and Mads Hermansen look like new players in the squad.
Going into the winter window, there was a lot of wonder as to what the Irons would do. The side chose to focus on key areas and build a group that starts at the back and works its way up. Now, West Ham are one of the most tight-knit groups in the top flight and that is what is carrying them out of trouble.
Nuno reveals reasoning behind January changes at West Ham
Speaking to Sky Sports in the build up to the Hammers showdown with Crystal Palace tonight, Nuno has been revealing all about how they turned the team around in January.
The West Ham boss confirms they needed to rebalance the squad and change their approach going into the second-half of the season.
“We reduced the numbers in terms of players and rebalanced our squad in terms of positions” said Nuno.
“Basically, [for] the way we wanted to approach the second half of the season. The previous idea that we had – a different idea for the second half.”
The Hammers now have the chance to make the gap to drop zone four points. A win at Selhurst Park would move the team further into the driving seat of survival, putting more pressure on Tottenham Hotspur who sit 18th in the table.
