- West Ham want to offload Niclas Fullkrug this summer
- The striker is one of the club’s highest earners and the team need to sell
- AC Milan are unlikely to sign the 33-year-old permanently
West Ham United originally signed Niclas Fullkrug to lead the line for the team and take them to the next level. The now 33-year-old had just come off a season where he played in the Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund and came the Hammers to be the main man.
Instead, the German international could not make his mark at the London Stadium as West Ham chopped and changed managers due to inconsistent form. Julen Lopetegui, the man who signed Fullkrug, would only last six months with the Irons and those who followed failed to get the best out of the striker.
Three goals in 29 appearances pushed both parties to find a different solution, allowing Fullkrug to end his difficult time in London. Now on-loan with AC Milan in Serie A, the forward is yet to find that form he once had, and the Italian outfit are unlikely to make the transfer permanent.

Wolfsburg offer Niclas Fullkrug career lifeline
With a move to Italy unlikely and a return the West Ham fold seemingly off the cards, Fullkrug could be in limbo this summer but Bundesliga side, Wolfsburg are interested it taking the striker.
According to Sky Sports, Florian Plettenburg, the German side are looking at bringing the 33-year-old back to Germany, where they believe he can flourish again.
Not only would this be good news for the player, but also good news for the Hammers. Should the team stay up and Fullkrug return as expected, he is one of the club’s highest earners. West Ham know they need to sell in the summer, regardless of their division, so getting the striker off the books is rather important.
Whilst Wolfsburg’s interest is welcomed, the German side are in their own survival fight. Dieter Hecking’s team are currently six points from safety but did beat Union Berlin 2-1 this weekend.
If Wolfsburg do suffer the drop then a transfer is unlikely. That would leave the Hammers with an unwanted, expensive asset that lacks suitors.
