West Ham United’s links to the double coup of Brazilian pair Pablo Maia and Luizao have been talked up by a reliable source.

What’s the word?

That is transfer insider Dean Jones, who believes that there is substance in the links cast by South American sources.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones said: “The stories are being driven from South American sources.

“I’ve checked it out and it does seem like there’s something to it. They’re quite open about this being one that is on the agenda.”

A promising pair

West Ham would do well to acquire São Paulo duo Maia and Luizao from the Brazilian Serie A.

The 20-year-old pair have performed well across what is their first season of senior football for both, although one has acquired more experience than the other.

Maia has quickly asserted himself as a key part of Rogerio Ceni’s engine room, pulling the strings for his side with an average of 54.4 accurate passes per 90, just falling short of former Bayern Munich star Rafinha, who averages 57.7 accurate passes per game.

Meanwhile, Luizao has not featured as much, making 14 appearances for Ceni’s side and failing to assert himself as the first choice central defender. That said, he has still managed 11 starts, so his potential is quite evident.

With these transfer links talked up by Jones, West Ham fans will likely be hoping for the club to make a move for the Brazilian duo at some point in the near future.
