Virals: West Ham count the cost of EPL victory as injuries take hold

West Ham picked up a vital three points to keep their Premier League top-four hopes alive as the Hammers overcame Aston Villa 2-1.

It was an emotional day at the London Stadium as Andriy Yarmolenko opened the scoring following a break for compassionate leave.

Pablo Fornals secured the victory for David Moyes’ side who moved up to sixth position, three points off Arsenal in fourth.

However, Moyes was forced into a change before the hour mark when Aaron Cresswell limped off.

Talismanic forward Michail Antonio was also forced off after shortly half-time with what appeared to be a hamstring issue.

Already without Angelo Ogbonna, Vladimir Coufal and Jarrod Bowen ahead of the second leg clash with Sevilla, there could be several key players absent for the Irons.

Despite not suffering any serious damage, a report from Claret & Hugh has claimed that Bowen could be out for another fortnight.

Huge news.

Already 1-0 behind from the first leg, Moyes needed a fully fit and firing squad for the visit of their Spanish opponents.

In terms of cover, it’s likely Ryan Fredericks will come in as right-back whilst Ben Johnson moves over to the left side.

Meanwhile, Said Benrahma should be the man to deputise for Bowen once again following a two-assist outing against Villa.
