Virals: West Ham among ‘interested parties’ in Konstantinos Mavropanos

West Ham are reportedly among the ‘interested parties’ in signing Arsenal central defender Konstantinos Mavropanos.

Currently on loan at VfB Stuttgart, the 24-year-old ace is enjoying a superb spell in Germany and could be on the move again in the summer.

The top-flight strugglers are facing a relegation battle to stay in the Bundesliga their fate could ultimately seal the Greek international’s future.

According to Heidenheimer Zeitung, should Stuttgart be relegated then they will be forced to sell the defender for half of the original asking price.

Expected to activate the permanent clause to take the seven-cap ace to Germany, an immediate €12.5million (£10.2million) sale could be on the cards.

This season Mavropanos has earned an impressive 7.14 average Sofascore rating from 21 league outings.

Overall the man hailed as ‘flawless’ previously has scored five times and provided one assist in 23 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £15.3million and under contract in North London until 2023 (Transfermarkt), signing the Greek defender for the mooted fee would be a superb coup.

Possessing a host of key defensive attributes, Mavropanos certainly looks capable of bolstering David Moyes’ squad.

Having gone away and seemingly learned a trade at the elite level, West Ham should remain attentive to a potential bargain swoop.

matchday.
