Virals: West Ham ‘keen’ on EPL midfielder Youri Tielemans

West Ham are reportedly ‘keen’ on signing Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans.

The Hammers are named amongst a number of clubs interested in the 24-year-old as the Belgian continues to reject new contract offers at the King Power Stadium.

Since arriving in England from AS Monaco in 2019 for an undisclosed fee (BBC), Tielemans has scored 24 times and provided 22 assists in 136 outings for the Midlands club.

According to a report from 90min, as cited by Talkin West Ham #GSBOUT on Twitter, the Irons would be in the mix to sign the Belgium international this summer.

Also touted by Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle United, there is certainly fierce competition for the 47-cap ace.

So far this season Tielemans – once described as ‘fantastic’ by Emile Heskey – has scored seven times and registered three assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £49.5million and under contract until 2023 (Transfermarkt), Leicester will need to find a solution one way or another this summer to avoid losing a prized asset for nothing.

The report states that West Ham are ‘keeping a close eye on his situation’ and given the quality of the player, there is no doubt this would be a high-profile acquisition.

A more attack-minded midfield operator than Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek, signing Tielemans would give David Moyes more flexibility in the formation.

At the right price this summer, this one would be a no-brainer.
