Opinion: David Moyes should keep faith in misfiring Pablo Fornals

West Ham manager David Moyes should keep faith in misfiring midfielder Pablo Fornals against Leicester City.

The 25-year-old Spaniard has suffered a dip in form of late compared to the early season and Moyes has recently discussed a desire to see more from the ace.

Despite citing ‘small signs of improvement’ from the former Villarreal attacking midfielder, Fornals has provided just one goal and one assist in the last 10 outings.

Unlike the central striker position, in which Michail Antonio faces little in the way of competition should form take a dip, the six-cap Spain international has plenty waiting in the wings.

With the likes of Manuel Lanzini, Nikola Vlasic and Said Benrahma all capable of operating in the coveted number 10 role for the Hammers, it’s imperative that performance levels stay high.

As the Irons prepare to face a stuttering Leicester City side, the five goals and three assists in 22 Premier League appearances should be enough to earn another start for the man described as ‘phenomenal’ by Tony Gale.

Albeit not offering a supreme goal threat in recent weeks, Fornals continues to provide all of the endeavour and work rate associated with this West Ham side.

So long as those levels stay high, it’s unlikely that an ever-faithful Moyes will drop the £18million valued Spaniard for the time being.

Predicted XI: Lukasz Fabianksi; Vladimir Coufal, Craig Dawson, Kurt Zouma, Aaron Cresswell; Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek; Jarrod Bowen, Said Benrahma, Pablo Fornals; Michail Antonio.
