West Ham are reportedly set to ‘open new contract talks’ with central midfielder Tomas Soucek.
The Hammers are hoping to tie the 26-year-old down to a new long term deal at the London Stadium 18 months after arriving on a permanent basis.
Since becoming an Iron following a superb loan spell, Soucek has scored 16 times in 85 outings for the club.
According to a report from Football Insider, as cited on Twitter, West Ham are desperate to prolong the Czech Republic international’s stay in East London.

The report claims that the club wants to offer the 46-cap ace a ‘new and improved contract’ in order to ‘fend off’ interest from Premier League rivals.
So far this season Soucek – hailed as ‘incredible’ by Thomas Tuchel – has scored three times and provided one assist in 31 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £40.5million and under contract until 2024 (Transfermarkt), there is no apparent immediate need for new terms.
However, given the Czech star’s importance to David Moyes’ side and indeed the levels of interest, this is a smart move from the club to protect a prized asset.
Instrumental to the Hammers alongside Declan Rice, Soucek has been sensational for West Ham and long may it continue.
