Virals: West Ham ‘race’ to sign Palmeiras starlet Danilo

West Ham are reportedly in a ‘race’ to sign highly-rated Palmeiras defensive midfielder Danilo.

The Hammers have been linked with a move for the 20-year-old alongside London and Premier League rivals Arsenal.

Already called into the Brazil Under 20 setup and having amassed 83 senior appearances for the Verdão, it would appear that the youngster has a bright future.

According to a report from Lance and Ekrem KONUR on Twitter, there is a pursuit ongoing.

The report claims that the Irons are ‘prepared’ to offer up to €25million (£20.8million) for the ace who rated 6.73 in 22 Brasileiro Serie A outings (Sofascore).

During the 2020/21 campaign, Danilo scored four times and provided three assists in a remarkable 49 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £16.2million and under contract in Brazil until 2025 (Transfermarkt), signing the midfielder for the mooted fee would represent a shrewd deal.

Clearly one of the rising prospects in South American football, West Ham would be landing their long-term Mark Noble replacement and bolstering their current options in one move.

Hailed for an ‘exceptional’ work rate by Sporf, Danilo is also noted for an ability to beat defenders, making the starlet a must watch.
