Alan Hutton urges West Ham to take transfer ‘risk’ on Adama Traore

Former Premier League defender Alan Hutton has urged West Ham to take a ‘risk’ on Wolves ace Adama Traore

This comes after the Hammers were linked with a £20million move for the 25-year-old this week as the Midlands club looks to finally cash in.

Blessed with explosive power and pace, the eight-cap Spain international has all the makings of an elite performer.

Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton suggested that Traore could be the ace in the pack for the Irons.

I think managers, when you look at the likes of Adama and what he actually brings to the table, on any given day he could give you a bit of magic that could win you a game. I totally get why people need someone like him in their squad, I totally get it. We’re talking about a guy who’s physically unbelievable. His pace is unbelievable. He’s got everything, technique, but you just have to look at his stats. At £20million, I think that’s worth it. If you can get Traore for £20million, I think that’s worth the risk. Bring him into the club and see if you can unlock his potential.

This season Traore has failed to contribute directly to a goal in 20 appearances – earning a 7.04 Sofascore rating from 18 Premier League outings in the process.

Valued at £25.2million and under contract at Molineux until 2023 (Transfermarkt), there can be little doubt that the winger is a bargain at £20million.

However, as David Moyes looks to fine-tune the squad at the London Stadium with smart additions, splashing out on a player that often flatters to deceive may not be the wisest move.

Despite the obvious potential, West Ham would be best served to concentrate on a striker and centre-back at present.
