Virals: West Ham a ‘serious candidate’ to sign Club Brugge ace Hans Vanaken

West Ham have now emerged as a ‘serious candidate’ to sign Club Brugge attacking midfielder Hans Vanaken.

The Hammers have previously been linked with the 29-year-old but a move failed to materialise.

Now it appears that David Moyes could revisit the interest as the January transfer window fast approaches.

That’s according to Belgian outlet Voetbal24, as cited by Sport Witness.

The report claims that should the 17-cap ace win the Belgian Golden Shoe, a move to the Premier League may be forthcoming thereafter.

So far this season Vanaken has scored eight times and provided five assists from 25 appearances across all competitions for the Belgian top-flight outfit.

READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £14.4million and under contract at Brugge until 2025 (Transfermarkt), signing the star would be an expensive mid-season outlay for the Irons.

Predominantly operating as an attack-minded central midfielder, Vanaken would bolster the options available to Moyes in the department.

Another powerful figure, a trio of Tomas Soucek, Declan Rice and the Belgian would be a fearsome sight to behold.

Albeit not necessarily the priority in the upcoming window, this is a deal that should perhaps only be explored once a striker and central defender have been obtained.
