West Ham United could be prepared to sell striker Taty Castellanos in the January transfer window, barely 12 months after signing the Argentine from Lazio for around £27 million.
According to reports discussed on both Claret and Hugh and West Ham World, ExWHUEmployee has indicated that the Hammers may listen to offers for the 28-year-old if they represent a “decent” or “right” price.
The suggestion was made on The West Ham Way Podcast and has been covered by both fan platforms, as above.
Castellanos joined in January 2026 as part of Nuno Espírito Santo’s efforts to bolster the attack during a Premier League relegation battle.
He contributed six league goals in the second half of last season, but has managed just one Championship goal this campaign despite regular opportunities.
Taty is yet to win over the supporters, and can’t be written off yet, but it’s fair to expect a greater return in the Championship.
This limited return has raised questions about his long-term future at the London Stadium.
Limited Championship return for Taty
West Ham World noted that the club rejected late summer interest from Everton, reportedly worth around £40 million plus add-ons, largely because of insufficient time to find a replacement before the window closed.
We’re barely two months beyond that point, but now the possibility of a January sale is being openly discussed, reflecting how quickly perceptions of Castellanos’s value have shifted.
It’s believed that money will be available for Nuno to strengthen in January, while selling an underperforming high earner like Taty could add to the pot to reinvest signifcantly in the squad for the promotion push.
Castellanos’s form over the coming weeks is likely to influence whether West Ham dig in for a high fee, actively seek a sale, or decide to keep him for the full campaign.
This West Ham transfer story is one to watch.
