Virals: West Ham hold ‘very strong interest’ in EFL ace Jason Knight

West Ham reportedly have a ‘very strong interest’ in Derby County midfielder Jason Knight.

The Hammers are believed to be considering a move for the 20-year-old as the Championship strugglers look to offload players to ease their financial woes.

Highly rated by manager and Premier League legend Wayne Rooney, Knight has become a mainstay in the first team this season.

According to reliable Irons’ insider ExWHUemployee, as cited by West Ham News & Views on Twitter, David Moyes could act in the January transfer window for the youngster.

Capped by the Republic of Ireland on eight occasions at the senior level, Knight is certainly a player already performing beyond his years.

Hailed a ‘manager’s dream’ by Rooney, so far this season the Dublin-born starlet has scored twice and provided two assists in 14 league appearances.

Valued at £5.4million and under contract until 2023 at Derby (Transfermarkt), West Ham would be wise to act in January in order to land their man.

Supremely versatile and with an eye for goal from deeper positions, Moyes would likely relish the chance to embed a player of the Irishman’s talent into the squad at the London Stadium.

As the Irons continue to fight on all four fronts this term, adding additional depth will be imperative next month and the youngster looks to be the ideal midfield candidate.

matchday.
