West Ham centre-back Angelo Ogbonna is reportedly close to committing his future to the club.
The 33-year-old is set to be out of contract at the end of the season and until now there has been little in the way of discussion over his plans.
Signed from Juventus in 2015 for £10million (BBC), Ogbonna has been a superb servant to the Hammers and continues to play a pivotal role under David Moyes.
According to a report from CalcioMercato, as cited by Sport Witness on Twitter, the affinity is set to extend beyond next summer.
The report doesn’t detail the length of the extension but instead states that the 13-cap Italy ace is ‘close to renewing’ at the London Stadium.
Since arriving in east London, Ogbonna has made 201 appearances as an Iron – scoring 13 times.
This season the Italian stalwart has made 11 outings across all competitions but is an injury concern at present having been forced off against Liverpool on Sunday.

Valued at £2.25million (Transfermarkt), alongside Kurt Zouma, Ogbonna continues to organise and lead from the back for West Ham.
Whether next season will see the Italian undergo a reduction in game time is up for debate, but there can surely be no question that the experienced defender is deserving of a contract extension at present.
