Premier League legend Matt Le Tissier has admitted that he is ‘concerned’ about the prospect of Southampton facing Michail Antonio this weekend.

West Ham make the journey to the South Coast tomorrow to face the Saints having made an unbeaten start to the new season.

Antonio has been unstoppable in the opening weeks of the new campaign, scoring four and assisting three goals already.

Speaking on the Where’s Jeff Podcast, Le Tissier, who played 350 times for Southampton during an illustrious playing career, suggested the 31-year old is the main threat.

I have to say I’ve watched them quite closely the past couple of years. I was at the London Stadium not last season the season before and it was just incredible how Antonio bullied our centre-backs and how easy it was for him in that game. He ran them ragged. I have to say that he’s started the season on fire. I am a little bit concerned about my team being able to handle him.

Antonio has scored and assisted in all three league games so far, a trend the newly capped Jamaica ace will hope to maintain at St Mary’s on Saturday afternoon.

In 13 appearances against the Saints, the talismanic striker has found the back of the net on two occasions and provided two assists – none of which came in the clashes last term.

Le Tiss is right to be wary of the in-form star, but not independently.

David Moyes has a host of players flying high, especially on the back of some international landmarks during the break.

Finding a way to fit Said Benrahma, Pablo Fornals, Jarrod Bowen and Nikola Vlasic behind Antonio looks to be the biggest headache facing the Scot on Saturday.
