Former West Ham winger Trevor Sinclair has been bemoaning the lack of transfer activity this summer at the London Stadium.
This comes on the eve of the Hammers beginning their Premier League campaign with a trip to St James’ Park to face Newcastle United.
So far the Irons have only managed to land Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Alphonse Areola for the first team.
As a deal for Nikola Milenkovic reportedly stalls and Frederik Alves leaves for League One Sunderland on loan, David Moyes has a worrying lack of options.
Speaking on talkSPORT, the ex-Iron of 196 appearances was frustrated by the lack of incomings in east London.
It’s great they have made the Europa League but the squad’s not strong enough. We definitely need a striker, players in every position really just to pad the squad out, and you can buy average players really. It’s a fantastic starting line-up, probably in the forward areas, I think they have got few options, but when you start going into holding midfielders I think we’re starting to look at weaknesses in the strength and depth in the squad.

Last season manager Moyes performed minor miracles with the squad to finish sixth in the Premier League and secure Europa League football.
However, as the new season begins and the Scottish manager remains without an adequate Sebastien Haller replacement or Fabian Balbuena successor, issues could be set to manifest.
Midfield duo Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek were a major factor in the success of last term and as things stand the pair may be called upon across all competitions.
With a little under two weeks remaining in the window, the club simply must find a new centre-back, midfielder and forward if Moyes is going to have any chance of replicating last season without one arm behind his back.
