Carlton Palmer believes Tammy Abraham could become a 20-goal striker

Former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer believes Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has what it takes to become a 20 goal a season ace with West Ham.

The 23-year-old has been mentioned as a potential target for the Hammers this summer as David Moyes goes in search of a Sebastien Haller replacement.

Abraham has fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge since the arrival of new manager Thomas Tuchel and has been touted with a £40million departure at the end of the season.

Whilst Moyes was quick to rebuff the possibility of the Irons shelling out huge fees, ex-Leeds United and Southampton star Palmer has told Transfer Tavern that Abraham would excel in east London.

Listen. Tammy will get you 20 goals, 20 goals. And that’s what’s going to take you to the next level.

Despite being left out of Tuchel’s plans recently, the six-cap England man has still managed 12 goals and six assists in 32 appearances in all competitions.

Valued at £36million (Transfermarkt), Abraham was dubbed as ‘Didier Drogba-esque’ by Rio Ferdinand back in 2019.

Signing the Chelsea ace would be a statement of intent of monumental proportions from those in power at the London Stadium.

Moyes more or less worked miracles to get West Ham into next season’s Europa League, therefore to back him with a signing like Abraham would lead to huge optimism over what could be possible moving forwards.

Whether or not the England man would be able to reach 20 Premier League goals is perhaps an optimistic notion – given his previous high tally stands at 15 in 2019/20 for the Blues.
