Virals: Manchester United deem Declan Rice ‘too slow’ for transfer

Manchester United scouts have reportedly raised concerns over two aspects of West Ham central midfielder Declan Rice’s prowess.

The 22-year-old has become one of the best defensive-minded midfielders in the Premier League in the last 18 months, leading to speculation that both Chelsea and Manchester United could look to swoop.

Irons boss David Moyes has recently claimed the Hammers will place a price tag above £100million on the England man.

However, as reported by club insiders Claret & Hugh and cited by West Ham News & Views on Twitter, officials at Old Trafford consider two factors to be below the level required.

The report goes on to claim that Ole Gunnar Solksjaer wants a ‘dynamic’ partnership at the base of the midfield – a role they don’t foresee Rice being capable of carrying out.

This should come as music to the ears of Hammers everywhere.

Whilst Rice may not possess blistering pace, to suggest the combative ace lacks the dynamism to perform in a two at the base of a midfield, having done so alongside Tomas Soucek all season is certainly a bizarre claim.

Rice is wholly adept at the role asked of him and has been proving so week in week out this season at the elite level.

Nevertheless, with Chelsea already reportedly throwing in the proverbial towel on their pursuit and Manchester United seemingly headed in the same way, Moyes and co will be more than happy to persevere with the 15-cap star.
