Former Premier League and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson has pleaded with West Ham loan sensation Jesse Lingard to leave his parent club this summer.

Having joined on-loan from Manchester United on transfer deadline day in February, the 28-year-old has been in dazzling form for the Hammers, earning an England recall in the process – along with reported permanent interest in a move.

Speaking to Football Insider this week, Robinson, who played 375 times in the top-flight, has hailed Lingard’s impact at West Ham:

Wow, it has just been a brilliant loan, it is between him and Raphinha for the signing of the season. It has been an absolute masterstroke from David Moyes. He obviously knew Lingard well, the kind of character he is and the talent he possesses. Moyes knew he could get the best out of him and it has worked out amazingly well for West Ham. He has been nothing short of a revelation.

The 48-year-old went on to discuss the difficulties Lingard would face in trying to oust Bruno Fernandes at Old Trafford, before suggesting numerous Premier League clubs could be in the mix for his signature this summer.

With eight goals and four assists in just nine league outings, the Warrington-born ace has undoubtedly been outstanding since his arrival in east London.

David Moyes’ side now stands on the verge of UEFA Champions League qualification for next season, something that could play a huge part in any attempt to land the attacking midfielder on a permanent basis.

Whilst interest has already been mooted from Leicester City, the Irons must remain in pole position given Lingard’s recapturing of form at the London Stadium.
