West Ham United have published key travel information for supporters attending Saturday’s pre-season friendly against Southend United.
Nuno Espírito Santo’s side visit Roots Hall on Saturday, 18 July, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm BST.
West Ham’s allocation of 2,753 tickets has sold out, with travelling supporters situated in the North Stand. The match will be the club’s first public fixture of the 2026/27 pre-season schedule.
The Hammers have advised fans to travel by train because roads towards the Essex coast are expected to be busy with summer traffic.
Direct Greater Anglia services run from London Liverpool Street to Prittlewell. Roots Hall is around a ten-minute walk from the station.
Supporters can also travel from London Fenchurch Street to Southend Central on c2c services, although the walk to the stadium takes approximately 25 minutes.
West Ham begin preparations at Roots Hall
Southend compete in the National League and are coached by former West Ham and England midfielder Kieron Dyer.
The Shrimpers reached the promotion play-offs last season and also lifted the FA Trophy after beating Wealdstone at Wembley.
West Ham have already played one behind-closed-doors friendly this summer. As Read West Ham reported, goals from Niclas Füllkrug, Maxwel Cornet and Pablo secured a 3-2 win over Colchester United at Rush Green.
Saturday’s match will give supporters their first opportunity to assess Nuno’s squad ahead of the Championship campaign.
West Ham last visited Roots Hall in July 2015. Dimitri Payet scored twice on his first appearance for the club as Slaven Bilić’s side earned a 3-2 friendly victory.
The club’s official supporter guide also confirms there is no matchday parking at Roots Hall, although several pay-and-display car parks are located within a 15-minute walk.
