Fabrizio Romano Confirms Man Utd Transfer Stance That Reshapes The West Ham Saga

West Ham United’s summer has been defined by one uncomfortable question: how long can the club hold on to its most valuable players while preparing for life in the Championship? Relegation has turned the London Stadium into one of the most closely watched selling markets in Europe, and the phones in east London have barely stopped ringing.

Crysencio Summerville sits at the centre of it all. The Netherlands international’s World Cup form has supercharged his market, and Roma have moved from words to numbers this week — preparing a €45million offer while Aston Villa continue to circle. PSG, Chelsea, Fulham and Galatasaray have all been mentioned in dispatches over the past fortnight.

And then there is Manchester United. Ever since word emerged of conversations between Old Trafford and Summerville’s representatives earlier this summer, the prospect of the Premier League giants entering the race has hovered over every negotiation — the kind of suitor whose arrival could blow the market wide open.

Now the transfer window’s most followed voice has addressed exactly where United stand — and his answer reshapes the picture.

Fabrizio Romano Delivers His Verdict On The United Question

According to Fabrizio Romano, speaking in his latest transfer briefing on his YouTube channel, Manchester United are not in the race for Summerville at all — and their position hinges entirely on one of their own players.

“Everything depends on Marcus Rashford,” Romano said. “While Rashford is still at the club, it would be difficult for Manchester United to add another player in that position.”

“United spoke with Summerville’s agents back in June, but they have never made an official approach to West Ham and they have never submitted a bid. There are no negotiations and there are no ongoing contacts.”

“Summerville is one of the options if Rashford leaves, but at the moment there is nothing concrete, nothing close and nothing advanced.”

Is Romano’s Update Good Or Bad News For West Ham?

On the surface, one fewer Premier League giant in the race weakens West Ham’s hand. In practice, the update mostly confirms what the club’s negotiating position has assumed all along: Roma are the only suitor to have put concrete numbers on the table, and West Ham were right to reject the opening £34m bid as far below their valuation, which Read West Ham understands to be around £50m.

The more interesting thread in Romano’s words is the Rashford domino. United have parked their interest rather than ended it — meaning that if the England forward moves later in the window, a club with far deeper pockets than Roma could arrive at the table just as the Italians are trying to close a discounted deal.

The verdict: there is no reason for the board to blink. Roma’s improved €45m package still falls short, Villa’s interest keeps the auction alive, and the possibility of United re-entering late in the window is quiet leverage. Patience remains West Ham’s strongest card — and Romano’s update, read properly, strengthens rather than weakens it.
