Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray has hailed in-demand striker Adam Armstrong as ‘special’ and ‘Premier League quality’ after the 23-year-old netted his 19th league goal of the season recently.
West Ham have been one of the clubs touted with an interest in the former Newcastle striker and could reignite their interest at the end of the season.
Mowbray has played down concerns over Armstrong leaving in an interview with the Lancashire Telegraph after the 23-year-old had a penalty saved in the weekend defeat to Nottingham Forest and instead opted to concentrate on the positives.
The Rovers manager said: “I thought Armstrong was Premier League quality. He looked really special, I thought, yet he missed the penalty. But it was more like the team I recognise.”
Blackburn currently sit 12th in the Championship and at present, promotion to the top flight seems some way off.
Having previously braced themselves for Premier League interest in Armstrong by setting a high asking price, the Lancashire club will almost certainly be preparing for further interest in the summer.

Armstrong will almost undoubtedly be in the mix when the Hammers go in search of a striker over the summer. With Brentford’s Ivan Toney also reportedly of interest to the Irons, it could come down to the divisions in which their respective clubs are playing next season.
Prising Toney away from the Bees would likely be difficult if they win promotion, whereas signing Armstrong from mid-table Blackburn may prove more viable.
