West Ham fans dismiss Darren Bent’s FA Cup claim

Former England striker Darren Bent has claimed that West Ham fans would prefer to finish fifth in the Premier League than win the FA Cup, a claim which has been unequivocally denied by many of the Irons faithful.

Bent, who represented England on 12 occasions, told talkSPORT Breakfast that West Ham should prioritise league success over a cup run.

Currently, the Hammers lie one place outside Champions League qualification for next season and could be on the cusp of an astonishing campaign.

David Moyes‘ side travel to Old Trafford tonight to face Manchester United in the FA Cup fifth round. The Irons last won major silverware in 1980 when they lifted the oldest domestic football trophy in the world.
