Many West Ham fans are understandably relieved as Tomas Soucek‘s red card in the late stages of Saturday’s goalless draw against Fulham has today been overturned by the FA.
The Czech midfielder was adjudged to have elbowed Fulham striker Alexsander Mitrovic, citing violent conduct, and he was dismissed after multiple VAR reviews.
Soucek, who has been an inspiration for the Hammers this season was bemused at the original outcome and pleaded his innocence at the time.
The overturning of the red card means the 26-year-old will now be available to face Manchester United in the FA Cup fifth round tomorrow, and Soucek himself welcomed the decision on Twitter.
