Defences won the day at Craven Cottage as Europe-chasing West Ham were held to a goalless draw by survival battlers Fulgam in an all-London affair on Saturday evening.
In a match with little in the way of clear-cut chances, the hosts perhaps edged the attacking moments and former Irons midfielder Scott Parker, now Fulham manager, may count himself unlucky not to have taken all three points.
The main taking point came in the dying moments as Hammers hero of recent weeks Tomas Soucek was inexplicably dismissed for catching Alexsandar Mitrovic with a stray but unintentional elbow.
After numerous VAR checks and Mitrovic himself seeming to plead the West Ham man’s innocence, Soucek was sent off and now faces the prospect of three games on the sideline. David Moyes will now turn his attention to a midweek FA Cup tie with Manchester United.
