West Ham will re-ignite their interest in a big-money move for Moroccan international Youssef En-Nesyri, according to the Daily Star.
Despite failing to secure the striker with a £27m offer in January, David Moyes’ side reportedly remain undeterred by the rebuffing of their previous interest. The Daily Star reported that Sevilla wanted at least £35m for En-Nesyri before they would consider selling last month and are expected to hold out for a similar amount in the summer.
The ex-Leganes star, now plying his trade in La Liga with Sevilla, has scored 16 goals in 30 matches this season in an impressive goal return ratio of just over a goal for every two games.
Perhaps understandably, he was swiftly identified as a like-for-like replacement for Sebastien Haller, who joined Ajax in January at a huge loss on the initial fee that the Hammers paid for him.
West Ham failed to recruit a replacement striker in January, with Moyes citing the right options at the right price not being available as the primary reason for the lack of a centre-forward arrival.
With Moyes claiming that funds were made available to him, it seems the Irons are hedging their bets and looking ahead to the summer window before offering significant spending to the club.
Sevilla sporting director and former player Monchi recently revealed “the negotiation lasted one day” with the Hammers over En-Nesyri.
The player, dubbed a ‘prolific poacher’ by The Athletic, supposedly snubbed a move to the London Stadium as he did not want to leave his current club in the lurch midway through the season.

Tall and prolific, it hardly unfathomable as to why En-Nesyri was so highly prized by West Ham officials.
Now is not the time to worry about differentials and past circumstances – instead, West Ham fans should expect greater backing in the summer with the frugality of January hopefully serving the Hammers well from June.
