West Ham manager David Moyes chose the opportune moment to lavish praise on an upcoming opponent during his pre-Aston Villa press conference by claiming that Jack Grealish is the ‘best player in the league right now’.
The Villa captain has undoubtedly been an integral part of the turnaround in fortunes for the Midlands club who, like West Ham, narrowly avoided relegation last term but harbour loftier ambitions for this season.
The 25-year-old has recently earned international acclaim and, in just 19 Premier League appearances this season, has already amassed a staggering 17 goal contributions.
Moyes’ comments have unsurprisingly sparked a debate on social media as football fans countrywide have their say on the bold, but not entirely outrageous, claim.
We’ve compiled a pick of the best reactions, albeit there was no mention of Tomas Soucek…

There was still scope for one serious suggestion, though…
