West Ham could jeopardise the potential arrival of Jesse Lingard on loan as the Hammers’ hierarchy haggles over a loan fee.
Claret and Hugh claimed that the total cost of a potential loan deal is thought to be more than £3.1m, taking into account the loan fee Manchester United want as well as Lingard’s wages.
The loan fee is proving to be especially contentious for the two clubs, with West Ham looking to lower the deal by a factor of just £500,000.
According to James Ducker in The Telegraph, the overall West Ham offer is a package amounting to £1m, but Manchester United will not sanction a move for less than £1.5m.
However, the report also indicates that striking a deal is not an insurmountable obstacle, and Lingard remains a strong contender to join the Hammers ahead of the transfer deadline on Monday.
Lingard has not made a Premier League appearance this season and the 28-year-old is an unwanted figure at United. A move to the London Stadium would see the midfielder reunite with former Red Devils manager David Moyes, and he would provide competition to the likes of Manuel Lanzini and Said Benrahma.

Some Hammers fans may well be rolling their eyes at the board’s frugality, but there is no need to fear.
The deal does not feel like it has met an impasse, and reaching a compromise over such a minor gap in monetary demands should not be grounds to derail the potential loan move for Lingard.
