Plenty of West Ham fans have been made to eat their early-season words regarding Craig Dawson after the centre-back scored what was ultimately the winner against Crystal Palace last night.
Dawson’s brave 65th-minute header from a Jarrod Bowen corner gave the Hammers a 3-1 lead and proved to be the pivotal goal, meaning the on-loan Watford man now has two winning goals to his name this month.
Having struggled to force his way into the reckoning in the early months of the season, some pundits (and possibly a few fans, too) had begun to question the loan signing.
Much was made of David Moyes’ pursuit of Burnley’s James Tarkowski among others in the summer, and many may have been underwhelmed by the eventual arrival of the 30-year-old from Watford in October.
However, Dawson has been solidity personified at the back, and some important goals have led to plenty of the Irons faithful performing a U-turn on their opinions of the defender.
We’ve rounded up the pick of the reactions from a host of fans hailing the redemption of the defensive ‘rock’:
