Former England striker Darren Bent believes West Ham must already have a replacement for Sebastien Haller lined up and claims he has ‘heard rumours’ of an impending arrival.

The 36-year-old told Football Insider that the Hammers will have someone to come in before the end of the month otherwise the deal to let Haller leave wouldn’t have gone ahead, saying:

It surprised me a little bit that they’ve let him go in this climate. But I’ve heard rumours that they’ve got someone that they’re gonna bring in, I maybe would have done this deal in the summer. I would have waited. But David Moyes must have someone lined up.

Haller’s departure means that mercurial forward Michail Antonio is the only recognised striker in the first team squad and his injury woes have already seen the 30-year-old miss large parts of this season.

Bent continued by saying the decision to let Haller leave was a smart one as his time at the London Stadium hadn’t gone to plan, but added that the Irons ‘must have something up their sleeve’ by way of a replacement.

It looks as though Moyes will be reliant on Antonio for the weekend against Burnley, but that scenario can’t continue for long.

It only takes one knock or a muscular problem for the 30-year-old and the Irons are down to less than the bare bones and perhaps turning to a winger or an untested youngster to lead the line .

There are certainly enough strikers being linked with the club, so let’s hope one of them comes off in the next few days.
