Luka Jovic snubs West Ham to return to Eintracht Frankfurt

Serbia international striker Luka Jovic reportedly snubbed a move to West Ham in favour of a return to Eintracht Frankfurt, according to Frankfurter Rundschau (via Sport Witness).

Jovic was linked with a loan to the Hammers as he sought to escape what has turned out to be a disappointing move to Real Madrid before the 23-year-old opted for a return to the Bundesliga side as that’s where he felt ‘very comfortable’.

The Irons’ interest was noted in the report, but the Serbian ‘absolutely wanted’ to go back to his previous club where he felt ‘valued’. He signed for the La Liga giants in 2019 for an eye-watering £52.4m but has only scored twice in 32 matches for the Bernabeu outfit.

Previously he had netted 36 times in 75 outings for Eintracht Frankfurt, a record which earned him his move to Madrid, and he will be hoping to emulate on his return.

It appears as though David Moyes has already cast his eye elsewhere in the hunt for a striker to replace Sebastien Haller.

A loan move for Jovic would have been a shrewd piece of business if the Serbian could rediscover his Bundesliga form, although it’s hard not to consider the dismal time in Spain as a major concern.

Time will tell whether his decision works out for the best and if the Irons are left to rue what might have been.

matchday.
