West Ham have submitted a formal offer for out-of-favour Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik, according to Calcio Napoli 24.
The Hammers have been left somewhat desperate for reinforcements in the striking department after the departure of Sebastien Haller, and the Poland international has been linked with the Londoners for some time.
Milik looks almost certain to leave the Serie A side this month as relations with the club completely broke down in the summer, leading to the prolific Polish star being left out of their domestic and European squads.
Calcio Napoli 24 claimed that the Hammers have made a €7m (£6.3m) offer, some way short of a bid from Marseille which was reportedly rejected last week.
The 26-year-old is out of contract in Naples in the summer and therefore could be available for nothing in a little under six months’ time. However, the Irons need a striker now and Milik, who was described as ‘sensational’ by his former manager Carlo Ancelotti, ticks plenty of boxes.

Whilst this reported bid is likely to be well and truly rebuffed, it does show that the Irons are in the mix for Milik along with Italian giants Juventus (Daily Mail), which can only be seen as a positive.
The negative is the incredibly low-ball first offer from the Hammers, especially given that the coffers have suddenly become healthier to the tune of £20.5m from the sale of Haller.
That said, all negotiations have to start somewhere, but it may take a bid more in the region of £13m according to reports – still small fry for a player with 114 club career goals and plenty of miles left in the tank.
