West Ham should be in the mix for recently released striker Diego Costa according to popular Hammers insider ExWHUemployee.
Costa has had his contract terminated at Atletico Madrid this week and Ex told his West Ham Way podcast the Irons ‘should be interested’ in making him an Iron.
”We should be interested in him because, yes, he’s 31/32 and I don’t think he’s been overly successful since going back to Spain, at the end of the day, he’s the sort of character you need there.”
Now 32, the former Chelsea frontman with a prickly reputation for being a difficult customer, played seven times in La Liga this season for Atletico, scoring twice before leaving the club.
Despite Ex’s inferred-interest, the insider believes a move to east London may be someway down the Spanish international’s list of preferred destinations.
”Diego Costa is free, I don’t think we’ll be able to get him, purely because he’ll be on big wages and I think the likes of Arsenal will move for him and other clubs. I’d like to think we would be interested but probably, I would imagine other clubs would be ahead of us.”

Costa would certainly arrive with plenty of pedigree as well as a win at all costs mentality which is almost unrivaled in football.
However, even if the Spaniard was desperate to play out his career at the London Stadium, the negatives outweigh the positives on this one given the striker’s recent injury problems and likely wage demands.
