West Ham climbed to fifth in the Premier League table after making it three wins on the bounce, all by a single goal, against Aston Villa last night.
The Hammers got off to a flying start when centre-back Angelo Ogbonna opened the scoring after just two minutes as he rose highest from a Jarrod Bowen corner.
David Moyes‘ side were coping well with the threat of Villa until Jack Grealish levelled for the visitors just before the half-hour mark. The Irons manager made changes at the break to regain control of proceedings.
Not perturbed by the equaliser and influenced by the substitutes, West Ham started the second half brightly and this time it was provider turned scorer as Bowen headed home his fourth goal of the season just as the bubbles were settling – this time from a Said Benrahma cross, the Algerian’s first involvement following his half-time introduction.
Moyes’ men had to battle hard to hold on as the visitors saw Ollie Watkins strike the bar from a penalty before having a goal ruled out for offside in stoppage time.
Here’s how we rated each of the Hammers last night…
