Plenty of West Ham players have jetted off across the globe for this round of international fixtures, and two in particular have made an impression for their respective nations.

Centre-back Fabian Balbuena had to deal with Lionel Messi throughout as he played all 90 minutes for Paraguay in their 1-1 draw against Argentina for 2022 World Cup qualifying. Balbuena had plenty to deal with, coming up against Messi, Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez, PSG’s Angel di Maria and Tottenham’s Giovani Lo Celso.

West Ham striker Sebastien Haller came off the bench for his Ivory Coast debut to score the winner in a 2-1 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier win against Madagascar.

Haller, who has polarised opinion since his arrival at London Stadium from Frankfurt in 2019, came on after 23 minutes and joined Arsenal’s Nicolas Pepe, Tottenham’s Serge Aurier, and Wolves’ Willy Boly as English club representatives for the Elephants.

Balbuena and Haller have made 13 Premier League appearances combined this season and many Hammers fans have shown pride in two of their players shining on the international stage…
