Tottenham looking to sign Jeremy Ngakia on free transfer

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing West Ham full-back Jeremy Ngakia on a free transfer this summer, according to the usually reliable ExWHUEmployee.

Speaking on the latest episode of The West Ham Way podcast, ExWHUEmployee claimed that Spurs and Crystal Palace were both interested in taking the teenager after he rejected a contract extension from the Hammers.

The 19-year-old broke into the West Ham side earlier this season and played well under the management of David Moyes, but his Hammers’ career looks to be over before it ever really got fully underway.

The teenager is out of contract at the end of this month and not only has he declined the offer of a long-term extension, but he’s also refusing to sign a new deal to play on until the end of the current campaign.

For Ngakia to reject the chance of an extension, either short-term or long-term, it’s almost certain that he has another move lined up, so he doesn’t want to risk an injury over the next few weeks.

Losing the teenager will be a bitter blow for the Hammers, who’ve put a lot of work into his development.

However, it’ll be even worse for the club’s fans if he moves to rivals Tottenham and becomes a success.

It’s fair to say that the teenager won’t be the most popular man amongst the West Ham fanbase if he does abondon the club in the midst of a relegation battle to join Tottenham.
