West Ham close in on fifth summer signing
West Ham are reportedly close to agreeing a deal for an unnamed central defender, and reports have ruled out both Gary Cahill and Aaron Long.
According to football.london, an unnamed Portuguese teenager is close to signing for the Hammers before the transfer window closes, but there is still work to be done by all parties involved to secure the move.
Pellegrini has overseen somewhat of a summer overhaul at the London Stadium this summer, with no fewer than 10 players leaving the club either on a loan, a permanent move or due to a contract expiry.
Pablo Fornals and club record signing Sebastien Haller have been two of the Hammers’ four new signings this summer, and according to the report, a fifth could be incoming before the transfer deadline.
The teenager is reportedly expected to offer competition for Fabian Balbuena and Issa Diop next season, and the arrival of a new centre-back could see either of Winston Reid or Angelo Ogbonna leave the club.
