West Ham offered chance to sign Aaron Long

West Ham have been offered the chance to land New York Red Bulls defender Aaron Long this summer.

According to Sky Sports, West Ham have been told that they could sign the centre-back, although they would face competition from Lyon and Fiorentina in France and Italy.

The report claims that the defender has a release clause of £4m in his contract at Red Bulls, which West Ham would have to trigger to bring him over to England before the end of the transfer window.

Long joined Red Bulls from Seattle Sounders in 2016 and was in excellent form last season for the club. He was named MLS Defender of the Year for the 2018 campaign, attracting interest from clubs in Europe.

The 26-year-old’s also earned him a call-up to the USA national team. He made his debut for his country last year and has since earned 11 caps, scoring two goals.
