West Ham face competition from Liverpool for Marega

It’s being reported by Foot Mercato that West Ham are one of several clubs interested in Porto striker Moussa Marega.

West Ham will have a battle on their hands for the Mali international as French club Marseille are also keen on the 28-year-old Marega.

Marseille may appeal more to the striker as he speaks French and the Ligue 1 club are in Europe next season as well. Liverpool are also being reported but Marega may struggle to break into the Reds’ starting XI.

Marega is known for his physical strength, but he has an eye for a pass too and there are very few centre-backs in Europe that can match him physically.

The 28-year-old striker had a decent 2018/19 campaign, scoring 19 goals and 10 assists in 43 games for the Portuguese giants.

With Arnautovic’s future still up in the air, the Hammers are in need of a well-rounded centre-forward. Two strikers have already left the club in Andy Carroll and Lucas Perez so that centre-forward position is one that could be up for grabs next season.
