West Ham eye up loan move for Gonalons

West Ham are reportedly looking to sign Maxime Gonalons on a one-year loan deal this summer, according to L’Equipe.

The Frenchman has spent the 2018/19 season on a temporary spell at Sevilla, but will now return to permanent club Roma.

Gonalons is expected to be deemed surplus to requirements by the Serie A giants this summer.

There is believed to be interest in a loan move from both West Ham and Everton, with the experienced midfielder seen as someone who can add experience and quality in the middle of the park.

The Hammers may need midfield reinforcements ahead of next season, with Declan Rice linked with a move away.

Regardless of whether or not Rice remains at the club, the 30-year-old would be a potentially shrewd acquisition.

Gonalons suffered an injury-plagued campaign at Sevilla, however, where he managed just seven appearances.

He has won eight caps for France, making his debut against the USA back in 2011.
