Manchester United drop interest in Rice

Manchester United have dropped their interest in West Ham United star Declan Rice this summer.

According to The Evening Standard, via Sports Mole, Manchester United have backed out of the race to sign Rice, as well as giving up their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho.

The report claims that Manchester United have accepted that they will be unable to sign Rice this summer, with the midfielder having recently signed a new long-term contract at West Ham.

Rice was a key member of Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham side this season and played in 34 of their 38 Premier League matches – scoring twice.

The holding midfielder is also on his way to becoming a regular in the England side, having picked up three caps for his country this year – with the most recent coming against The Netherlands in a 3-1 defeat on Thursday night.

Rice is a product of the West Ham academy and has made 70 first-team appearances for the club to date.
