Napoli join West Ham in pursuit of Nathaniel Clyne
Carlo Ancelotti’s Napoli have joined West Ham in the race to sign Liverpool right-back Nathaniel Clyne.
According to Goal, the Serie A side are keen on the former England international after being strongly linked with Tottenham right-back Kieran Trippier.
The 28-year-old has been tipped to join Manuel Pellegrini at the London Stadium over the summer to bolster the Hammers’ defensive options.
West Ham currently have Ryan Fredericks and Pablo Zabaleta available to them at right-back with Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku on the opposite side.
Liverpool reportedly value the defender at £15m, despite the defender having just 12 months left on his current Reds deal.
Clyne, who spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Bournemouth, is also being monitored by the Cherries ahead of a possible permanent move to the Vitality Stadium.
Pellegrini is expected to make numerous signings for the club this summer, with the Hammers looking to sign younger players on smaller salaries, so a move for Clyne could be an exception to that proposed strategy.
