West Ham want to sign Andre Almeida from Benfica this summer, according to a report from The Daily Express.
The Hammers are understood to be among a trio of clubs from the Premier League who are pursuing deals to recruit the experienced right-back ahead of next season.
Almeida enjoyed an impressive campaign in Portugal. The defender was solid at the back for his side and contributed with 11 assists for his teammates.
He remains an important player for Benfica, but if the report is to be believed, he may be available for a cut-price fee worth just £8 million in the recently-opened transfer window.
Almeida is capable of playing either on the right-hand side of the defence or the left, indicating that he would provide competition primarily for Pablo Zabaleta and Ryan Fredericks should he arrive at the London Stadium.
However, West Ham will not face an easy run at securing his signature. Their Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton are also noted as potential suitors for the 28-year-old.
Other right-backs who West Ham could consider signing
Dumfries is a promising player. Recruiting him from PSV Eindhoven would be a forward-thinking move.
Cedric will return to Southampton following his loan at Inter Milan but is surplus to requirements. He could be a decent alternative to Zabaleta and Fredericks.
Maehle has been outstanding for Genk in Belgium. A big move surely awaits the young Dane this summer.
Malcuit could leave Napoli as they hunt for a new right-back. He would be an astute signing for West Ham.
Clyne will head back to Liverpool following his loan at Bournemouth. He could be a reliable option for the Hammers at right-back.
Mallo may be on the lookout for pastures new after Celta Vigo endured a difficult season. West Ham would be a suitable destination for the Spaniard.
