West Ham keen on Andre Almeida

West Ham want to sign Andre Almeida from Benfica this summer, according to a report from The Daily Express

The Hammers are understood to be among a trio of clubs from the Premier League who are pursuing deals to recruit the experienced right-back ahead of next season.

Almeida enjoyed an impressive campaign in Portugal. The defender was solid at the back for his side and contributed with 11 assists for his teammates.

He remains an important player for Benfica, but if the report is to be believed, he may be available for a cut-price fee worth just £8 million in the recently-opened transfer window.

Almeida is capable of playing either on the right-hand side of the defence or the left, indicating that he would provide competition primarily for Pablo Zabaleta and Ryan Fredericks should he arrive at the London Stadium.

However, West Ham will not face an easy run at securing his signature. Their Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton are also noted as potential suitors for the 28-year-old.
