West Ham agree deal to sign Gustavo Cuellar

West Ham have reportedly agreed a £24.3m deal with Flamengo for Colombia midfielder Gustavo Cuellar, according to South American journalist Gustavo Henrique Dando Choque, cited by Claret and Hugh.

The report claims that the Hammers will pay the fee in three instalments, with the midfielder set to sign the contract in July following the Copa America.

Cuellar could also remain at Flamengo until December as part of the deal before making the move to the London Stadium.

The 26-year-old joined Flamengo back in January 2017 for £1.6m from Colombian side Deportivo Cali.

Since then, the midfielder has been a key member for the Brazilian based side, making over 100 appearances.

The midfielder has five senior Colombia caps to his name and could prove to be a shrewd signing by the Hammers if the deal goes through.

Cuellar is regarded as a ball playing midfielder who isn’t afraid of a tackle, so could be a possible replacement for Declan Rice, who has been heavily linked with a move away this summer.
